Allan Oman is a nature photographer based in Beaver Lake, Ontario, Canada. In 2011, one of his photos was chosen for Canadian Geographic’s special annual edition ’Best Wildlife Pictures 2012’ while another made it into Artists On Elgin’s 2012 Picture Our Lakes Calendar. In 2010, his photos made it to the cover of PhotoLife Magazine (August/September PhotoLife) and the cover of Artists On Elgin’s 2011 Picture Our Lakes Calendar and he was chosen as a finalist for PhotoLife Magazine’s 2010 Emerging Photographers photo competition (August/September PhotoLife).
While majoring in physics, Allan’s quest to capture the beauty of nature first began with the purchase of a Nikon mechanical camera and lens and a study of the works of Galen Rowell, Art Wolfe, Frans Lanting and Jim Brandenburg as well as the story telling works of the Magnum photographers. After graduation he spent many years living and working abroad and, while there, developed a great longing for the unspoilt natural world.
’ I wish to help conserve our ever-changing environment by taking the viewer on a visual journey, as seen through my eyes, to rekindle their love for it. ’
